Harry Love ft Yungun, Verb T & Mystro - 'Surprize'
|
|
Format - 12" Vinyl
Price - £5.00
|
|
| The
first release from Medication Records, Harry Love’s own imprint, was never
going to be a quiet affair. Squeezing Verb T, Yungun and Mystro into his
West London studio, the Pharmacy, Harry has captured the energy and hunger
of three of the UK’s finest. The A-side entitled Surprize packs one hell of
a punch and sees the trio launch an onslaught of battle rhymes to their
unsuspecting victims. The beat is laced with aggressive trumpet stabs to
complement the intense wordsmanship perfectly. On the flipside the equally
strong Live from London sees the three amigos once again do what they do
best, this time over a funkier, bass driven instrumental. Killer cuts on
both tracks are no less than you’d expect from an ex-Scratch Pervert and
typifies the style of hiphop that Harry represents.
Medication have started in fine form with this one, 12-Inches of Harry Love is exactly what the doctor ordered. |

Conflix & The Last Skeptik – 'Think
Twice/Character Assassin'
|
|
Format - 12" Vinyl
Price - £5.00
|
|
| First
off mad props to Skeptik for rocking a Silent Soundz tee on the cover of
another label’s release! Filthy Habits bring you 3 tracks for your money on
this little number. First off is Think Twice, Conflix’s conscious reflection
on getting the most from life. The Last Skeptik keeps it chilled and
minimalist on this one with a haunting horn sample creeping in amongst the
melodic bassline and jazzy drums.
Character Assassins shows the more regularly seen side of Conflix where he’s back to his strong punch-line verses. Silent Soundz were hooked up with this track when it was hot off the press and it featured as the opening track on the Sickness Mixtape. The B-Side, Vision, is this release’s highlight with Conflix bringing in Verb T, Baron Samedi, Syanyde and Grimlok from the Colony to help him rip up Skeptik’s aggy backing track. Hallucinations a plenty here with rowdy fighting talk and some tough scratches from Jazzy T of Diversion Tactics. Nice one boys! |
